Bud Cauley suffered serious injuries in a car crash after missing the cut at the Memorial, his agent has confirmed.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The 28-year-old, still chasing his first win on the PGA Tour, suffered five broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a broken lower left leg in the crash which happened late on Friday night.
Cauley was still in Dublin, home of the famed Muirfield Village course, when the car he was a passenger in was involved in an accident.
He had posted rounds of 77 and 76 to finish some way adrift of the cut mark, and was next scheduled to participate in US Open qualifying in Tennessee, which he has been forced to withdraw from.
Cauley was sitting 82nd in the FedEx Cup rankings, with top-10 finishes this season at the Safeway Open and RSM Classic.
Justin Thomas, who competed alongside Cauley in college at Alabama, said on Twitter: “Not many people I love more in this world than my guy BC.
“Was a rough night’s sleep last night. Glad to see and hear he’s been doing better. Prayers are needed and all we can do is hope for the best!”
