Delhi Dynamos and Chennaiyin FC continue their search for the first win of the season, playing a goalless draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Delhi on Tuesday. Despite multiple chances created by both the sides during the Indian Super League match, both Delhi and Chennai have questions to answer as they sit at the bottom of the table.
Chennaiyin team coach John Gregory put up a strong team against Delhi, with Jeje Lalpekhlua and Germanpreet Sing starting from the bench. They started well, with Carlos Salom earning an early corner for the visitors. Isaac Chhakchuak took it and it was met by Andrea Orlandi but Delhi keeper Dorronsoro Sanchez did well to save the header.
Delhi immediately made them regret it, as Lallianzuala Chhangte built up well but Rana Gharami failed to reach the box at the right time. Carlosantonio ran with the ball but Dorronsoro was again there to block the advances.
After 20 minutes, the hosts avoided trouble as Thoi Singh came close to giving Chennaiyin the lead with a close-range tap in but Gianni Zuiverloon did brilliantly to deny him.
Right before half-time, Delhi Dynamos almost got themselves the lead as Chhangte created the best chance of the game with a beautiful build-up and perfect cross to Andrija Kaludjerovic, who had the entire goal open in front of him but his header went straight to Chennaiyin keeper Karanjit.

The visitors came into the second half with a revived energy and an attacking mindset. Salom’s powerful shot on goal, however, went wide. Later, Chennaiyin had another chance of drawing the first blood but Orlandi’s cross failed to reach Thoi.
Dorronsoro turned out to the man for the home side, preventing them from losing the clash against bottom-placed Chennaiyin. With 15 minutes into the second half, Orlandi whipped the free kick in from the left-hand side but Dorronsoro blocked it with a punch. The visitors gave the home crowd a scare in the 70th minute when the Delhi keeper again came to his side’s rescue, denying them the lead after a brilliant counter-attack. Few minutes later, the Spanish keeper punched Thoi’s cross to Thapa away.
Two-time champions Chennaiyin, in the absence of injured Dhanpal Ganesh, are facing their worst season so far, being the only team to have lost three matches at the start. They return home with their first point of the season and now face ATK in Kolkata. Meanwhile, Delhi face Mumbai City FC on Saturday.
