Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!India vs England 2nd Test Lord’s: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly’s latest statement ahead of the all-important Lord’s Test is exactly the right dose of motivation Virat Kohli and Co must have been looking for after losing the 1st Test at Edgbaston by 31 runs. Virat Kohli and a few others like Ishant and Pujara would have good memories of this venue from 2014, when they beat England. But it is a different day and a different game.
“The weather has improved in London. The playing conditions are perfect for cricket. India has the best chance to bounce back in the series at Lord’s,” Ganguly told IndiaTV. “The wicket will be favourable for Indian spinners in the later days of the match. The forecast suggests rainfall, so the ball will definitely swing here. The Lord’s Test will be a carnival for five days.”
Ganguly also seems to believe that two spinners could be fielded by India, looking at the pitch. Kohli had earlier hinted that as well in his pre-match press conference.
“Fielding two spinners is a tempting thought. It’s definitely in contention,” Kohli said on the eve of the second Test between India and England.
It seems like the heat and the Sun has played a big role if India goes in with two spinners.
It would also be interesting to see who is dropped, Shikhar or Rahul for Cheteshwar Pujara.
Meanwhile, skipper Joe Root has already confirmed that 20-year-old batsman Ollie Pope will make his Test debut in the Lord’s Test. He will be replacing Dawid Malan who did not have a great outing in the Birmingham game. With Ben Stokes not available, it could be a big advantage for India as the allrounder created an impact in the second innings of the Edgbaston Test.
