Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!New Delhi, August 9: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will take part in ‘Bhaichara Kanwar Yatra’ in Haryana’s Rohtak on Thursday. The yatra, which will be joined by the Chief Minister was launched by Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) unit in Haryana few days ago. The party volunteers have alleged that the Yatra was stopped by the police for checking purpose. Hence, Kejriwal would take part in the Yatra to show his disapproval to the incident, Indian Express reported.
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on July 31 instructed the senior officers to complete all arrangements to ensure that the kanwaria pilgrims do not face any inconvenience. Khattar was presiding over a meeting with the state deputy commissioners and superintendents of police through video-conference to review the arrangements for Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage to carry water from the Ganga and offer it to Lord Shiva.
The chief minister directed the officers to make arrangements regarding law and order, medical facility, availability of water and toilets, besides ensuring smooth traffic while deciding the routes for the pilgrims, known as kanwarias, an official release said.
Kanwar Yatra
The tradition of Kanwar Yatra is believed to be a part of the Shaivite faith. The pilgrimage was done by saints and hermits until early Nineteen century but got prominence later within the common masses. The devotees usually collect water from holy pilgrims like Haridwar, Gaumukh, and Gangotri in Uttarakhand.
