Andre Fletcher (47), Agha Salman (73) and Farhaan Behardien (62) played crucial hands as Edmonton Royals overcame Winnipeg Hawks by five wickets in the Global T20 Canada on Saturday (July 7). Royals chased down the target of 204 with three balls to spare.
In pursuit of a massive total, Royals had a poor start as Luke Ronchi was dismissed in the fourth over. However, Fletcher and Salman stitched a stand of 68 for the second wicket in just over five overs to launch the platform for the chase. Kyle Phillip, who bowls medium pace, dislodged Fletcher to break the threatening stand.

At that stage, Salman, the Lahore Qalandars all-rounder, and Behardien strung together a partnership of 93 for the third wicket to put Royals on course for their second victory of the tournament. Behardien smashed four boundaries and four sixes while Salman cracked eight fours and three sixes. Junaid Siddiqui and Salman combined to send the batting duo back to the pavilion, with Fidel Edwards removing O’Brien. Shahid Afridi (13*), though, crunched a couple of sixes to steer Royals home.
Earlier, Lendl Simmon (66), Mark Deyal (64) and David Miller (60) essayed vital knocks as the trio powered the Hawks to a sizeable total. Miller, in particular, was in fine form, evidenced by his strike rate of 214.29. Mohammad Irfan and Salman snared two scalps each for Royals.
Royals sit third on the table with five points with Hawks (four points) taking the fourth position.

Brief scores: Winnipeg Hawks 203/5 (Lendl Simmons 66, Mark Deyal 64, David Miller 60; Mohammad Irfan 2-29) lost to Edmonton Royals 209/5 in 19.3 overs (Agha Salman 73, Farhaan Behardien 62; Fidel Edwards 2-33) by five wickets.
