New Delhi: The Centre on Saturday held an all-party meeting, chaired by Rajnath Singh, to brief all political parties regarding the recent developments and the future course of action. The parties passed a resolution during the all-party meet, stating that they “strongly condemned” the dastardly attack, while Congress’ Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Opposition parties backed the government and the security forces in the issue pertaining to national security.
The nation bid a teary goodbye to the 40 CRPF jawans on Friday who were martyred in the dastardly Pulwama attack two days ago, when a suicide bomber had rammed his explosive-laden car into the bus of a CRPF convoy on Srinagar-Jammu highway. Mortal remains of the fallen soldiers were brought to their respective hometown on Saturday, where hundreds showed up to pay their respects.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the three service chiefs as well as several other politicians, including Congress President Rahul Gandhi paid homage to the martyrs at Palam airport in the national capital on Friday. Meanwhile, the NDA government has vowed to avenge the cowardly attack, with PM Modi stating that the security forces have been given a “free hand” to decide on their response to the attack and that perpetrators of Pulwama would “pay a heavy price.”
MHA issues advisory to states, UTs to ensure safety of Kashmiri students
In the wake of a terror attack on CRPF convoy in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), on Saturday, issued an advisory to all states and Union Territories to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of students and residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to MHA officials, there have been some reports of students and other residents of Jammu and Kashmir experiencing threats and intimidation in light of Pulwama attack, PTI reported.
